Brad Correll

Brad is a Gastonia native playing high school ball at Ashbrook H.S. before committing to Limestone College in 1999. After 2 years at Limestone Brad was drafted by the Reds organization in 2002. Brad had a successful professional career in AA & AAA baseball before retiring in 2009. In 2010 Brad returned to Limestone. He was an assistant baseball coach from 2010 to 2012. After leaving Limestone Brad coached youth travel baseball. In 2014 Brad started his own baseball program, Mission Baseball that focused on player development while centered around Christ. Mission Baseball has grown over the years and is now considered one of the premier youth developmental program in the area.

Jacob Thompson

Jacob is a Charlotte native. Jacob has been with Mission since the beginning. Jacob started as a junior coach in 2012 with Brad coaching his 10u team. Jacob was the assistant coach for the "original' Mission Team for their final season in 2017. Jacob played high school baseball with the Carolina Royals. His senior year in 2017, he was team captain before committing to FDTC. Jacob transferred to CVCC in the spring of 2019. Jacob played two seasons with CVCC. In 2020 Jacob was named to the Region 10 NJCAA All-Academic Team. In 2023 Jacob was hired as the varsity hitting coach at South Mecklenburg HS. Even during his college playing days, Jacob was an active coach with Mission Baseball. If he wasn't playing baseball, he was coaching for Mission.

Christian Schwartz

Christian Played high school ball locally at Charlotte Catholic where he was an All-Conference Center Fielder. He also played for Brad Correll in showcase ball for 2 years in high school. He played his college ball as an outfielder at Limestone College and Louisburg College then later graduated from University of North Carolina Wilmington. Christian began coaching for Mission in 2017.

Mitch Edens

Mitch graduated High School from Sissonville WV, where he achieved All State and won the School’s first State Championship. Mitch attended University of Tennessee where he was a Walk on / Practice player under new coach Rod Delmonico for two years. Mitch is married and has two boys, one is at UNCC and the other attends Lake Norman Charter. Currently Mitch coaches the Middle School Baseball team at Charlotte Christian and before that coached MS for Lake Norman Charter for 6 years. Mitch has 14 years of experience in the Charlotte travel ball community and has been with some of the top programs.

Shawn Alwran
Shawn played varsity baseball for West Mecklenburg HS from 1993 to 1997. He was set to play at Gardner Webb University, but an injury ended his baseball career. Shawn is a Charlotte Firefighter Captain and played on the CFD baseball team. Shawn has coached multiple age groups over the past 10 years and is very excited to have this opportunity to coach at Mission. Shawn is married to his wife Lauren and they have three children who all play ball. Landon, 15 and Declan, 9 play at Mission and a daughter, Braelyn 13 who plays softball. 

Zach McIlroy

Zach is a Charlotte native and played high school ball at Charlotte Christian. His senior year he committed to Anderson University where he was a 4-year starter playing 2B, 3B and SS. Zach started coaching for Mission in 2018. In 2021 Zach was accepted to the Charlotte Fire Academy and is now a Charlotte Fire Fighter

Elwood-Brad (81)

Brad Elwood

Brad Elwood is a Union County native. He played high school baseball at Piedmont H.S. where he was named Louisville Slugger Preseason All- American before committing to University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2015 where he was named ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Winner, NCCSIA All-State Second Team, Preseason All-Conference USA selection, Named to All-Atlantic 10 Tournament, 1-10 Player of the Week, Academic All-Conference and 2x A-10 Rookie of the Week. Brad loves to help the community and finds joy in doing so through coaching and teaching the game of baseball since 2011.

TJ Worrell
TJ went to high school locally at South Mecklenburg High School.  In 2005 TJ was named to the NCPREPS 4A All-State Team before committing to Wingate University   In addition to coaching, Coach TJ is a Charlotte Fire Fighter.

Rafael Méndez

Rafael is a Puerto Rico native drafted by the Detroit Tigers Organization in the 17th round, where he played 7 years in the MLB. In 2003 and 2004 he earned the Gold Glove for 3B (2003) and 1B (2004). Later in his career he played with the Joliet Jackhammers (2010) where he met Brad Correll. The fall of 2010, Rafael retired and decided to start his new path that the Lord had for him and became a full-time baseball/softball instructor and baseball coach. Coach Mendez has coached many top 100 ranked baseball teams and players. Rafael is the player and facilities operations manager for the entire Mission organization. Minner Labrador

CCoach Minner Labrador played high school baseball at Clearwater High School in Florida. Labrador later went on to play at Wingate University in North Carolina in 2006-2008 before transferring to Eckerd College in Florida in 2008-2010. There he earned the SSC second team honors and was the team MVP in 2010 leading his team in multiple offensive categories. After playing, Minner coached at Stanley CC as an assistant and hitting coach.  In addition to coaching,  Coach Minner is a Charlotte Firefighter.

Tyler Tewell

Tyler is a Matthews native. He play high school baseball at Butler High School before committing to Appalachian State University in 2009. He played at Appalachian State from 2009 to 2012 before he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves. Tyler played in the Atlanta Braves organization for three seasons before being picked up by the Gateway Grizzlies in the Frontier League. In 2016 Tyler was selected to the Fontier all-star team. Tyler has coached youth baseball throughout his playing career. He loves giving back to the sport he loves by mentoring youths. His love of baseball has molded him into who he is today.

Tommy Wright

Tommy is from Hillsborough, NC. He played HS ball at Orange Senior High School where he was a 2x All Conference Player.  His senior year in 2008 he won the 2A State Championship and was an Honorable Mention All-Tournament Team.  He played his college baseball at Surry Community College where he was named to the first team All Regional Team.  He transferred to Brunswick Community College where he received his second All-Regional Team honor.  In addition to coaching for Mission Baseball he is the current high school and middle school coach for Union Preparatory in Indian Trail, NC

Fabian Walker

Fabian played baseball for four years at Piedmont HS and was selected to the Southern Carolina 3A All Conference Team in his junior and senior season. He is currently playing baseball at Catawba Valley CC but coaches for Mission in his off time. "My hope is to make these kids better than I ever will be"

Joseph Selitto

Joe was born in Maplewood, NJ. He played baseball, football, and basketball at West Morris Central High School, earning All-Area nominations. He went on to play in the Morris Majors semi-pro baseball league in CF for the Mendham Pastime under coach Bennie Arswaga. Joe has been successful coaching youth baseball at all levels from recreation to USSSA Travel baseball and is new to the Mission staff for Fall 2023.

Xzavier Chishom
Xzavier is a Charlotte, NC native who attended Independence High School where he excelled as a track and field athlete. After graduating, he received a scholarship to UNC-Wilmington and later had the privilege of being inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. His passion for sports and kids fuels his dedication to coaching. With a deep-rooted appreciation for speed, agility, and quickness, his coaching philosophy centers on establishing those foundational assets, developing well-rounded athletes, and nurturing their love for sports to reach their full potential.

Justin Cooke
Justin is from Belmont, NC. He played HS baseball at Kings Mountain High School.  Justin played college baseball at Cleveland Community College.  In his youth career he was coached by Coach Correll, Coach Mendez and Coach Thompson "All have been great mentors and coaches and am excited to join the Mission Family".
